Mission Ambassadors
Volunteer leaders opening doors for BRAWS across Northern Virginia.
BRAWS began with one person walking into rooms and asking. Mission Ambassadors carry that forward.
Each ambassador holds a named seat for one year and brings BRAWS somewhere new: a congregation, a service club, an employer, a campus, or their own network of people who give when someone they trust asks them to.
This is not a general volunteer sign-up. Every ambassador has a seat with a name on it, a short list of what that seat does, and a stated number of hours. You will know exactly what you are taking on before you say yes.

Fundraising Ambassador
Some of the best support BRAWS gets comes from one person deciding to go find it. Give or raise $2,500 a year, any combination of four ways: a personal gift, Mardi Bras tickets sold, a sponsorship secured, or gifts raised from your own network. Introductions count for more than most people expect. $2,500 a year, plus four Mardi Bras 2027 tickets bought or sold. Up to five seats.
Faith Community Ambassador
Congregations across Northern Virginia are looking for meaningful service. This seat brings them a way to give that fits. Build the congregation directory, learn the giving calendars, secure speaking slots, and generate congregational drives. 6 to 10 hours a month. Up to five seats.
Grants Ambassador
BRAWS works a pipeline of more than sixty funding opportunities a year. This seat helps keep us growing. Research prospects, verify what enters the pipeline, draft assigned sections, and keep the funding calendar current. 4 to 12 hours a month. Up to three seats.
College Campus Ambassador
Students organize quickly and give generously. This seat opens the campuses where that energy already is. Work George Mason and the Northern Virginia Community College campuses, the Panhellenic and IFC philanthropy calendars, chapter philanthropy weeks and May move-out collections. 5 to 10 hours a month, weighted to the start of each semester. Up to five seats.
Corporate and Workplace Giving Ambassador
Employers across this region run generous giving programs. This seat connects them to BRAWS. Build the employer list, get BRAWS listed and verified on the giving platforms, find matching gift eligibility, and cultivate event sponsors. 6 to 10 hours a month. Up to five seats.
Civic & Service Club Ambassador
Service clubs are built to back local causes. This seat puts BRAWS in front of them. Build the club directory, book program slots, work the club grant cycles, or recruit HOA porch pick ups. The position is as much as you want to make of it. 5 to 10 hours a month. Up to five seats.
What every ambassador carries
A one year term, renewable, beginning on a set date
Four meetings a year, one of them in person
Reports to the Executive Director. Unpaid volunteer service.
Seats are capped. Where more than one ambassador holds a seat, they form that seat's subcommittee.
Most of the work happens on your own calendar. In-person time is at congregations, club meetings, campuses, employers and events, not at our office.
