As our community’s needs have grown and demand for our services has increased, the Board of Directors has made the decision to transition our Executive Director role from part-time to full-time. This change will further support our mission, sustainability, and long-term impact.

We are currently hiring for a full-time Executive Director to lead BRAWS into its next chapter.

Compensation: $35/hr 40hrs/week 48 weeks/yr

Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of BRAWS, responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, strategic plan, and overall financial health of the organization. A primary focus of this role is high-level community engagement, fundraising, and partnership development to expand our impact. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader, an exceptional communicator, and a skilled manager who can guide staff, inspire donors, and cultivate strategic partnerships to advance menstrual equity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fundraising & Community Engagement (Primary Focus)

  • Strategic Growth: Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy to diversify revenue streams and ensure long-term financial sustainability.

  • Donor & Public Relations: Initiate, cultivate, and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and community stakeholders through direct meetings and targeted outreach.

  • Serve as a face for BRAWS; represent the non-profit at local Chamber of Commerce meetings, networking events, and public speaking engagements to raise awareness and promote conversation around menstrual equity.

  • Grant Management:  Together with the Director of Program Administration, identify, research, and pursue new grant opportunities aligned with the organization's mission.

  • Events & Outreach: Oversee the planning and execution of signature fundraising events.

  • Volunteer Mobilization: Engage with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, manage, and engage fundraising volunteers and brand ambassadors to amplify outreach and volunteer-driven efforts.

  • Impact Reporting: Oversee the creation and distribution of the Annual Report to demonstrate organizational impact to donors and stakeholders.

2. Program Oversight & Strategic Partnerships

  • Mission Execution: Ensure the successful implementation, evaluation, and scaling of BRAWS' core programs.

  • Strategic Alliances: Cultivate and maintain deep operational partnerships with product recipient organizations (such as shelters and community centers) to ensure efficient and impactful distribution of period products and undergarments.

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management to ensure the organization operates with fiscal integrity and within approved budget guidelines.

  • Staff Leadership: Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate core staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing organizational culture.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing non-profit operations.

4. Board Relations & Governance

  • Board Collaboration: Work closely with the Board of Directors to execute the strategic plan, provide transparent updates on organizational health, and support governance.

  • Board Recruitment: Assist in the identification, recruitment, and onboarding of new, diverse Board members to strengthen organizational leadership.

Qualifications

●       Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in non-profit operations, program coordination, or development. Prior experience as an Executive Director is not required; this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Program Manager, Development Director, or community leader ready to step up into executive leadership.

●       Fundraising & Resourcefulness: Proven experience assisting with or leading fundraising efforts, event planning, or individual donor outreach. A track record of being creative and resourceful in securing non-traditional funding, local sponsorships, or in-kind donations is highly valued.

●       Mission Alignment: A deep, authentic passion for women's health, dignity, and menstrual equity.

●       Hands-on Leadership: A "roll-up-your-sleeves" work ethic. In a small organization, the Executive Director balances high-level strategy with day-to-day administrative tasks, volunteer coordination, and direct community engagement.

●       Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently present BRAWS’ mission at local networking events, chamber meetings, and to community partners.

●       Operational & Financial Acumen: Experience managing or assisting with a budget; comfortable using (or learning) basic financial tools and software. Ability to manage a small staff and collaborate effectively with a volunteer-driven workforce and an active Board of Directors.

●       Education: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent life/work experience in a relevant field.
